Collection: Rekkid Weights
Why use a weight?
Record weights are used to stabilize vinyl records during playback, which can have a significant impact on the sound quality. By adding weight to the record, you can reduce unwanted vibrations and improve the accuracy and clarity of the sound. Additionally, record weights can help to reduce record warping and minimize record skipping, ensuring that you get the best possible listening experience from your vinyl collection.
Cork is the ideal material for record weights, as it is a natural sound insulator and dampener. This means that it helps to reduce unwanted vibrations and absorb excess sound, resulting in a clearer and more defined audio experience. Additionally, cork is a sustainable and environmentally friendly material, making it the perfect choice for audiophiles who are conscious about the impact of their purchases.
Here's a nice video someone made to explain.
Warped records
Not many people know that the most common warp that occurs on records is from the inside out, rather than the outside in. In other words from the label to the edge of the record.
Using a record weight will almost always make a huge difference on these warped records and allow for a smoother playback. We made a video below with our prototype weight [Wood: Ocotea bullata Diameter: 75mm Weight: 325g] and you can visually see how it reduces the undulations.
