ONE10BPM 2023 in review. Introducing: Kerala Dust
I first fell in love with their sound when I heard the single, 'Closer' rickety blues guitars and softly spoken vocals pinned down by a rolling, organic groove. Released February 2019, this Minimal, Tech House tune is a dance floor MUST!
It didn't take me long to jump head first down the rabbit hole to get my hands on as many of their rekkids as I could. After Closer, the next bit of vinyl gold I found was the Kerala Dust remix of O/Y - Die Entwicklung der Menschheit. Holy cow, what a track with its gritty earthy beats that you could (or should) be hearing in the desert on a massive rig stomping your feet. It's killer... or atleast I think so.
This year, they released Violet Drive a full studio album and oh my, it's good! I tend to play one track from the album at a ONE10BPM gig, rotating it but choosing is hard. The percussion work is primal and taps into that ancient thing in all of us resulting in the 'I can't help but move' syndrome on the dance floor.
