Fruity wholesome and handmade
As a hiphop and downtempo dude I have defiantly broadened my musical taste with this one, and hey why not? we should all be allowed to surprise ourselves and too often I am stubbornly strict with what I will lend my listening time too. What a treat this album is listening to it makes me feel like a kid who by chance got the better lucky packet
tUnE-yArDs album Nikki Nack is difficult to pin down as a genre, I like it cause it makes my head nod, the lyrics are smart and you can dance to it. So I’m gonna say, dance music. Not electro though, its live band stuff with strong vocals and a good dose of funk.
I found myself singing along with the chorus’s after my second listen. If nothing else the hits on this album are catchy but by no means lame.
This is my lock down record of choice at the moment. I brought it at the echo records booth at the 27 boxes InStereo Record Fair– gautengers go there!
On my visit there were more than 15 Booths, latest releases and a pretty fine collection of second hand stuff instagram.com/therecordfair
This relatively old album, came out in 2014, and its still being played and enjoyed by me and by the looks of it a couple hundred thousand of Spotify,
Talking of which – http://4ad.co/nikkinack– please go listen to the album and decide for yourself if its your kinda jam.
Comments always welcome.
